About the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program (ECRIP)

The Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program (ECRIP) was created by the New York State Council on Graduate Medical Education in 2000 to promote the training of physicians in clinical research in order to advance biomedical research and improve health outcomes in New York State. The program helps to ensure New York State remains highly competitive for National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other federal research funds. The importance of training New York’s clinician researcher workforce has been underscored by new policies at NIH that have increased funding for clinical and translational research.
